This is probably my luckiest find - a female wolf spider carrying her egg sac. (Wolf spiders, unlike most spiders, carry their egg sacs around with them until they hatch.) She's carrying it in her hind legs; she's facing away from me, but you can still see one of her eyes quite clearly on the top of her head, trying to figure out what the hell I am. (I had to move very slowly to get the camera this close to her; they are very good at detecting movement.)
Note that this spider is less than an inch in diameter. The camera lens is very, very close. (Also, this image is already scaled down; the full resolution is even more impressive.)
